Bio
Heather has been studying Ashtanga Yoga since Spring of 1991. She began teaching yoga full time in 1995. Her first yoga class, a led Ashtanga prep class, was taught by Senior Ashtangi and long time practitioner Chuck Miller. "I knew after that first class with Chuck, I was going to be a yoga teacher," she recalls. She continued studying Ashtanga, as well as taking her first trip to Mysore, to study with Guruji for three months. That first trip marked what she considers the beginning of her practice. After studying with Guruji, Heather traveled around for an additional nine months in both northern and southern India. She visited ashrams and participated in service projects. One of these projects included helping the efforts of Mother Teresa for a month in Calcutta. She traveled throughout India and South East Asia-broadening her perspectve on travel and life.
Her second trip to Mysore was in February of 1998 where again she stayed for three months. From 2000 to 2005, she has been studying yoga in Los Angeles. Moreover, she attended Guruji's 2000, 2002 and 2005 tours in NY, Maui, Los Angeles and Kauai. She didn't return to India until the summer of 2005 for Guruji's 90th birthday, where she was authorized by the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute to teach.
Heather has studied in Los Angeles at Yoga Works since 1991. Along with Chuck Miller, Heather studied daily with Maty Ezraty from January 1991 to May 2005. Heather also credits Senior Ashtanga teacher Annie Pace from Crestone, Colorado, an important mentor and teacher.
