Body Art and the Annamaya Kosha

The Annamaya Kosha, in yogic philosophy, is one of the five sheaths that veil our souls. You take care of each sheath to remove impurities and reveal your connection with your soul.

This can start with every day practices, such as brushing your teeth. However, my mind is brought to something a bit more shiny– like my aunt's nails. I find it impressive that my aunt constantly has beautiful nails, because that's not easy to do. Yet, it's a powerful practice which honors her Annamaya Kosha, and it feeds into her other koshas, too.

That simple act of carrying art around on her body has a far-reaching effect. It reminds me to put a little extra effort into how I protect my Annamaya Kosha, too.
