Disappointing Places
At one time, I used to enjoy going to religious sites. Now all I can see is consumerism and capitalism.
When I went to the Vatican and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, there were lines of people everywhere. When I went to the Loretto Chapel, once people purchased tickets, they were herded through like cattle. There wasn't even the human element of having a tour guide (additionally, the Loretto Chapel has been disproven as a miracle site).
Invariably, though, the only genuine interactions I saw were in the gift shop. All these religious sites that could have been inspiring have been such disappointments to me.
