Parent Check

There are memes going around saying that parents grow up with their first-born child. I have been reflecting on how accurate that is for me.

Yes; I did get better as a parent when I chose to grow while raising Aidan. However, I think that my biggest emotional mistakes were mitigated with the many animals that I have raised in my life.

Some people say that pets can't be compared to raising children, but I don't think that's true. My heart still aches for the mistakes that I made raising animals. That has inspired me to avoid doing similar things to my sweet children.

When those memes pop into my feeds, they serve as a good reminder for me to check myself as a parent.
