Reinvigorating Spirit

Last week I posted about how busy life had become since Aidan started high school. He joined the Marching Band, and the amount of work that he has put into it has been astonishing.

Caleb and I had thought that since neither of us were interested in football, and neither of our kids showed an interest in the sport, then we would be able to get through high school without sitting on those bleachers for hours at a time. We were bamboozled. It turned out that my son loved to play the trombone, and that landed us on those bleachers during football games.

It's actually been enjoyable, though. Since I am a teacher at the same school Aidan attends, I know numerous students playing in the band, tossing flags for color guard, tackling one another on the football field, flying through the air on the cheer squad, and dancing on the pom line. It fills me with pride and school spirit each time I attend an event, and that helps me to deliver my best self when I teach them.
